About Dr. Soper

Dr. Barton Soper's Background

Dr. Soper grew up on the southern Oregon coast and graduated from Walla Walla College in eastern Washington. Later, after graduating from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry he practiced as a general dentist for two years alongside his father in southern Oregon. Thoroughly enjoying the esthetic portion of dentistry and appreciating the mechanics of good bites, he then returned for advanced education in orthodontics, earning a Master’s degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics and a Certificate in Orthodontics in 1999. His Master's Thesis was conducted in cooperation with faculty members at the University of Washington and Loma Linda University in the area of stability of teeth after orthodontic treatment.

During his tenure at Loma Linda he received the California Dental Association Scholarship Award, the Western District American Academy of Implant Dentistry Award, the California Dental Association Award, and was elected by the faculty into membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the well-recognized dental honor society for academic achievement and leadership in dentistry. He was class president and University senator in dental school, as well as class president for the entire two terms of residency in orthodontics.

Dr. Soper was a faculty member of Loma Linda University’s orthodontic department and taught at the Duggin Study Institute in Southern California for Board preparatory programs for dentists sitting for the California State Dental Board exams. Dr. Soper completed all three of the steps required to become Board Certified and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. His continuing education includes extensive coursework in esthetic/cosmetic dentistry, occlusion (bites), and implant dentistry (reconstruction for missing teeth). Dr. Soper loves working with children and adults. Creating beautiful smiles is what brings Dr. Soper satisfaction each day.

In his free time, he thoroughly enjoys traveling, food – preparing and dining, and SCUBA diving.
